Callout 33 - 23rd May 2021 - Glenmacnass.

Updated: Jul 29, 2021

At 13:56hrs both DWMRT and GOI Mountain Rescue teams were tasked by An Garda Siochana for 4 hillwalkers who had returned from their walk to find an overflowing Glenmacnass river which they have tried unsuccessfully to cross. The group where cold and wet and had walked around for 4.5 hours trying to cross the fast flowing water. The group were asked to remain at their location and Mountain Rescue personnel would then access their position via the Brockaghs. SARLOC was also used to confirm the walkers position. Swiftwater technicians were also on stand-by as backup.

Both teams were stood down at 15:29hrs.

Duration of incident: 1 hour, 33 minutes.

Thank you to all the agencies involved.
