At 13:19hrs, the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and the Glen of Imaal Irish Red Cross Wicklow Mountain Rescue were tasked by An Garda Síochána to reports of a 70 year old female walker who slipped and sustained a mid-shaft fracture of the Humerus.
A group of nine walkers were out hiking and on their return the group split into two groups of 4 and 5.The party of 5 hiked up the summit of the Great sugar loaf and having descending the other side a female in the group slipped on ice and sustained a mid-shaft fracture to her Humerus.
A team Doctor and other medical personnel arrived quickly on-scene, assessed, treated and also administered pain relief to the casualty. Once the patient was made comfortable, she was then stretchered down to a waiting National Ambulance and crew.
Team was stood down at 15:42hrs
