Callouts 31 and 32 - 13th April 2019

On Saturday, April 13th, Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team were tasked to two separate incidents in Co. Wicklow within 20 minutes of each other.

Callout 31 was a tasking, at 12:57, by the National Ambulance Service (NAS) to assist with an incident on the Sugarloaf. The teams were tasked to help a NAS ambulance crew to evacuate an injured walker who had sustained a lower leg injury. Mountain rescue (MR) personnel responded to the scene, packaged the patient into a stretcher, and carried them to a waiting ambulance. The operation was stood down at 13:59.

Callout 32 was a tasking, at 13:16, by An Garda Síochána to assist with the evacuation of an injured mountain biker from Carrick Mountain. The injured biker was participating in the practice day for the Irish Downhill Mountainbike Series IDMS, and was being treated by Irish Red Cross medical personnel who were attached to the event. MR personnel assisted event medical personnel by packaging the injured biker into a stretcher and evacuating the patient to an Irish Red Cross ambulance. The operation was stood down at 14:13.

Our thanks to An Garda Síochána, the National Ambulance Service, and the Irish Red Cross for their assistance during both incidents.
