At 13:21 on Thursday, July 18th, Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Síochána to search for a missing person near Lough Bray.
A search plan was formulated by mountain rescue personnel at Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, where the operation’s rescue base was located. A two-day, multi-agency search took place and the missing person’s remains were recovered on the second day. The operation was stood down at 16:45 on Friday, July 19th.
We wish to express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased.
Our thanks to the following agencies who were involved in the operation: Garda Water Unit, Garda Dog Unit, Garda Air Support Unit, Search and Rescue Dog Association, South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association, Irish Defence Forces, Irish Search Dogs, and Rescue 116. Thanks also to all of our colleague teams in Mountain Rescue Ireland and Irish Coast Guard volunteer units who were on standby to assist. We are also grateful to the family and friends of the deceased, Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, and to local landowners for their assistance.
