The Spink

On 7th November at 13: 30hrs the Gardai activated our pagers to respond to an incident on the Spink for a female with a lower leg injury. Initially team members from DWMRT, GOIMRT, Donegal and the North West MRT were tasked from the Party Leader course. The RV point was the information centre at the upper lake.
4x4 vehicles were used to transport parties up the blue track system as an easier route to acess the casualty. Two members of the public were on scene with the lady as well as a member of the National Park Staff.
The lady was in good spirits. This was a good time for as many of our newly qualified emt's and also the paramedics we had with us from the Party Leader course to get stuck in. The ladies leg was splinted and she was moved onto the McInnes stretcher. At this stage the remainder of participants from the Party Leader course arrived on scene which meant we were able to do constant change over which was great.We moved a short distance on the board walk before we cut back through the forest area and down the track to an awaiting 4x4 ambulance.
