Wet Friday evening training in Glendalough

Wet Friday evening training in Glendalough

The team was out training in Glendalough last Friday evening – we completed a complete circuit of the upper lake in heavy rain, passing Temple-na-Skellig and the location of the dog rescue last week. We get a lot of callouts from this area - it is a very dangerous place, particularly in wet or lowlight conditions. The team used a series of fixed ropes to minimise the risks but even with these team members were confronted with steep, slimy rock and at one point were forced to wade through the lake in order to continue. Some of our newer members hadn’t been in this area before so it was a good opportunity for them to literally get their feet wet and familiarise themselves with the access options in the event of a callout. There's a few more photos in the gallery.
