 Wayfarers Association Fundraise for Wicklows Mountain Rescue TeamsThe Wayfarers Association is celebrating 40 years this year and two of the events which the Club is organising to mark this auspicious occasion are a Raffle and Monster Sale in aid of the Dublin and Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and The Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team. The Rescue Teams provide an important and vital service to the public especially hill walkers) and are on standby 24/7 in the event of an emergency in the mountains and upland areas throughout the Dublin/Wicklow region. Their work is done on a voluntary basis and the Teams rely, in the main, on sponsorship and donations from the public to fund their operations (including purchase of equipment, gear,maintenance of vehicles etc.).. The Club’s members and friends will be selling tickets for the raffle on Saturday 25th September and 26th September at as many of the car parks in the Dublin and Wicklow uplands area as possible. Tickets will cost €2.00 each. Your support for this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated!!! Prizes include an iPad. Sat Nav, iPod Nano, Children's TV/DVD. If anyone is interested in helping to sell the tickets or in donating a prize please let the organiser know (details below). On Sunday 10th October the Club will host a Monster Sale in the Glendalough Hotel , Glendalough Co. Wicklow from 12 noon until 7pm in aid of the Rescue Teams. If you have any unwanted hiking gear (new or old), DVD's CD's, Brick a brac, Wine or Spirits please let the organiser know as soon a possible. There will also be a cake sale during the day.
