Two Rescues in Twelve hours

Two Rescues in Twelve hours

Yesterday, Saturday the 7th August 2010, the Mountain Rescue Service in Co Wicklow was called out to assist a 23year-old hillrunner who experienced difficulty in descending Djouce Mountain following a competition. Mountain Rescue attended the scene and gave assistance to the runner.

The event organisers had been able to bring the lady down some of the way. One of her friends is a nurse and monitored her throughout. Suffering from a pre-existing condition, the runner was only temporarily incapacitated, and following care she quickly recovered.

Thank you also to the Wicklow Mountains National Park staff who assisted.

Also, this morning at 2am, Sunday 8th August 2010, a man was reported missing to the Garda Siochana who alerted Mountain Rescue. Mountain rescue had begun to prepare for a night-time riverbank search near Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow, but fortunately the uninjured man was quickly found (3.45am).
