Team Members Compete in “Dublin Mountain Plod” Half Marathon

Dublin & Wicklow Mountian Rescue Team Members, David Butler and Pat Reid completed the “Dublin Mountain Plod” on Sunday the 18th of July coming within the top 50% of runners. Both team members official finishing time was 2 hours, 1 minute and 30 seconds. The half marathon of 21km had a sting in the tail with an 820m climb through the scenic Dublin Mountains. The event was hosted by the Dublin Mountain Partnership and the Irish Mountain Running Association (IMRA). We are delighted to be able to support this event and particularly IMRA who give considerable financial support to the team.

The race started in Marlay Park with 200 runners making their way up Tibradden and Cruagh Lanes into Massey’s wood, across to Cruagh and along the Dublin Mountains Way to Tibradden and then along the Wicklow Way back to Marlay Park. Apart from weekly mountain races on the IMRA calendar, DWMRT members are also participating in a number of big mountain challenges and races in the coming weeks including two teams of 3 competing in the Lug Relay and a team in the Mourne Mountain Marathon. Two team members are also competing in Iron Men events over the summer.
