Irish Adventurer's Boots Under the Hammer for Mountain RescueDublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue will be anxiously watching the hammer drop on a pair of old boots this weekend. They belong to Irish adventurer Pat Falvey and were made specially for him when he wore them during the early stages of an expedition to the summit of Everest "the highest mountain in the world". Pat's off on his adventures again next month when he tries to break new records, walking to the North Pole… but before heading off, he donated his boots to a special auction at the Dublin Auction Rooms on Saturday to raise funds for rescue workers here in Dublin and Wicklow. If you fancy owning a little piece of Irish mountaineering history – the auction starts at noon… and you can check out details at www.dublinauctionrooms.ie The full price bid for Pat Falvey’s boots will be donated to the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team, with The Dublin Auction Rooms not taking any fee for managing the sale. The boots, which have a guide price of €250, will go under the hammer at approximately 1.30pm for any mountaineering enthusiasts who want to go along to the auction, and pre bids will also be accepted in advance of the auction by calling The Dublin Auction Rooms on 01 8199999. As well as a famous pair of mountaineering boots, hundreds of lots of household goods, glassware, collectibles, furniture and antiques, will go under the hammer this Saturday at The Dublin Auction Rooms on East Wall Road, from 12 noon. Public viewings will be held on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th January between 10.00am and 4.00pm, and also between 10.00am and 12 noon on the day of the sale.
