Helicopter TrainingAs most people where turning over in their beds early on Sunday morning, members of the team where braving the cold in Wicklow for a prearranged exercise with the Irish Coast Guards Search & Rescue (SAR) helicopter. The helicopter is a Sikorsky S61n and is based at Dublin Airport. After its arrival, with tea and buns out of the way, the crew gave the safety briefing and discussed the training objectives for the day, which included the correct procedure for embarkation and disembarkation of the aircraft, loading of a stretchers, winching, aircraft marshalling and the use of the highline in a rescue situation. |
