While most people were still in their bed on a lovely May bank holiday Sunday morning, 20 Team members met at 08:30hrs to attended flight school familiarisation with Rescue 116 the Irish Coast Guard rescue helicopter a Sikorsky S61 based out of Dublin Airport.
The main purpose of today’s training was to build on our basic ground school... visits to the base and to provide training in a live environment; our new probationary members had their first taste of flight. Team members practice drills of embarking and disembarking the aircraft via the air-stair door / loading – unloading a stretcher at the winch door and also been winched from the aircraft.
