Shortly before 3pm today, the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team responded to a request for assistance at Powerscourt Waterfall, near Enniskerry in Co. Wicklow. A Paramedic from the ambulance service was providing medical treatment to an injured mountain biker and required technical help from the Mountain Rescue Teams to extract the man from where he had fallen in an area of steep ground.
Mountain Rescue personnel quickly established a safe extraction route and set up rope systems to protect the casualty and stretcher during extraction. The mountain biker was transfered to hospital by HSE ambulance for treatment for his lower leg injury.
