As team members were arriving home after carrying out their first full days training of 2010, at approximately 19:30hrs, the Gardai activated the teams pager requesting our help for 2 seperate stranded vehicles again in the Sally Gap area of Wicklow.
In total there were 9 persons requiring assistance of which 4 were children with the youngest being 3 & 5 years of age.
Again although the approach roads to the Sally Gap were driveable, the actual Gap itself was impassible.
The Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team responded with specialist 4x4 vehicles to ferry all 9 to the safety of Roundwood Garda Station.
