A team member who was out walking on Howth Head, was stopped by a passer-by who asked if the team members was a first aider. The passer-by explained that a female in he mid-20's had slipped on wet rocks into a ravine further along the cliff walk.
On reaching the Casualty (Female English tourist, mid-20’s, who was with her boyfriend), the team member assessed and treated the injuries. The main cause of concern was an obivious knee injury and the injured female was in considerable pain.
The team member made contact with the Irish Coast Guard control centre, which immediately despatched the rescue helicopter. At this stage the team member was joined by member of a Dublin Fire Brigade ambulance.
Rescue 116 the Coast Guard helicopter arrived on scene and deposited the winch man and stretcher onsite. The tourist was quickly packaged and loaded into the helicopter for flight to hospital.
