At approximately 19:30 hrs on Friday 11th September Wicklows Mountain Rescue Teams were called on by the Gardai to respond to an incident in the Glendalough valley. Two climbers who were ascending a multi pitch climbing route on the upper cliffs in Glendalough had requested the assistance of Mountain Rescue when one of the pair took a fall whilst lead climbing.
Both teams responded quickly to the call for help and once they had established phone communications with the pair learned the two climbers were in good spirits with only minor injuries. The climbers were able to abseil down the cliffs and met up with a mountain rescue hill party who ensured their safe return to the valley floor.
