At approx 15:30hrs the Irish Coast Guard contacted Mountain Rescue and informed them that they had received a call in relation to a male hill-walker on the Wicklow Way above Powerscourt Waterfall, the hill-walker was suffering from what was believed to be a suspected heart attack or M.I. (Myocardial Infarction). The Coast Guard was sending their rescue helicopter Rescue 116 to the scene. Both the Dublin & Wicklow MRT and the Glen of Imaal MRT responded to the call.
Team members who where in the vicinity of the area on a hill walk diverted to give assistance to the injured walker. Rescue 116 arrived on scene and deployed the winch man and stretcher. After the casualty was assessed and treated he was airlifted to Tallaght hospital.
