At 05:30 this morning, the Gardai requested the assistance of Mountain Rescue to aid in the search for a missing youth who may have gone into the lake at Blessington. The Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team set up an operational base at Blessington Garda station, where they liasied closely with the Gardai and the Irish Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 116 from Dublin Airport.
The ESB also supplied a rescue boat on the lake to assist with the search.
Mountain rescue team members were tasked to conduct a lake shore search in the vicinity of Blessington lakes.
At approximately 08:30 the missing youth was found safe and well and treated by a mountain rescue medic for hypothermia and was then handed over to the ambulance servicesfrom Baltinglass who transported the youth to Naas General Hospital to be checked over.
The team was stood down at 09:30hrs.
